How Hard Is the Real Estate Exam?

That depends.  The goal of the real estate exam is to weed out people who won’t have the basic skills to make it in the industry.  It is not written for all people to pass.  The national pass rate is somewhere around 50%.  You can increase your chances, however, with appropriate preparation. 

Students state that they fail for many reasons. 

These include: procrastination, nervousness, failing to test well, lack of adequate materials, poor instructor, or incorrect format for their learning style (online).

Here is a list to help you overcome some of these obstacles and pass the exam.

There are several steps to passing the real estate licensing exams:

1) Enroll in a state certified pre-license course for your learning style.  Day, Evening, Accelerated, Online, Virtual. 

2) Get instructor recommendations by asking around

3) Take Good Notes and Pay attention – Your instructor will emphasize the concept of importance

4) Do all assignments provided by the school and instructor

5) Learn your vocabulary – You can’t pass without it

6) Take as many practice exams as you can find and keep track of weaknesses

7) Learn how to take tests in the process

8) Pass your school exam with a score of at least 10 points greater than required

9) Schedule your state exam promptly

10) Continue to practice, enhance your vocabulary, and take practice exams

11) Prepare your bag the night before the exam

12) Wake up early on exam day and exercise or read a magazine

13) Listen to KJMETHOD flashcards on the way to the examination

14) Arrive at the testing center early

15) Take a deep breath and say something positive to yourself

16) Take your time and use all/most of the time given

17) Don’t change answers, eliminate wrong answers. Don’t stay on any question too long.  Keep it moving.
